CISA3 director Maurizio Seracini (far right) oversees diagnostic imaging of Da Vinci's "The Annunciation".

Even before CISA3 was officially announced, researchers began the center's first field project in Florence, to run a diagnostic survey of a Da Vinci masterpiece. The center also forged a partnership with the San Diego Museum of Art that could make the southern California institution a pioneer in its industry. And at the February 2007 launch, CISA3 announced a landmark agreement to study one of the most important structures of the Renaissance.
