According to the blog, 'Our friends over at the National Geographic are crowdsourcing a project to identify archaeological treasures in Mongolia using satellite imagery (via the GeoEye Foundation) and other modern tools.' The goal of Valley of the Khans Project is to identify archaeological sites, but the fun part is that you get to participate in a real-time treasure hunt. The project is led by Dr. Albert Yu-Min Lin, a dashing real-life Indiana Jones who’s looking for the lost tomb of Genghis Khan.'
Maurizio Seracini has been a National Geographic Fellow since 2008. He is a co-PI on the NSF IGERT-TEECH grant, and director of CISA3 at UCSD.

A profile of CISA3’s Lin was the cover story of the May 2010 issue of atUCSD magazine.
CISA3 research scientist Albert Lin was voted Adventurer of the Year in a tie with a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, in the magazine's first-ever Readers' Choice award.
